Good morning everyone!!
I know we haven't finished our projects. We have some more activities to do about energy (with 5th grade) and matter (with 4th grade), but today I can't be with you and I think it's a good idea to start with your new proyect.
As I told you in April, in this project 4th graders and 5th graders will work together, but you will have different responsibilities. Let me explain this. 5th grade has to work on ECONOMY and 4th grade on INVENTIONS.
You will create your own companies. In these companies 4th graders will be the inventors and 5th grade economical part, that makes the invention possible to sell in the market.
Today you have to make groups with the spinning wheel. Four groups in total, in each group will be two 4th graders and three 5th graders, except in one of the groups that just there will be two 5th gradres.
Then, with your groups, you have to talk and discuss about different things (5th graders did this last year).
Phase 1: Detect difficulties/problems and think of possible solutions
The point is to think about what people need and they don’t have yet. And then, think of the best way to make it possible. A great idea can be very simple, it doesn’t have to be complex.
You have to write some difficulties you or some people have, and one or some possible solutions. Here you have some examples:
PROBLEM / DIFFICULTY | POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS |
Many times the soup is very hot and they burn their tongue.. | - Something to cool the soup. - Something to avoid soup be too hot |
Some people fall asleep sunbathing and burn their skin | - A sun detector with alarm that can measure the amount of tan. - Something to tell us if we are turning red from the sun. - A device that gives shade, even when the sun moves |
In my room I have different lamps depending on the kind of light I need. They occupy too much space | - A lamp that illuminates depending on the situation - Something that holds all my lamps taking up little space. |
